About Me

Jada Andersen is a science communicator and freelance journalist based in Sydney, Australia. She is a surfer, hiker, and regular traveller who finds inspiration in the outdoors.

In 2020 she graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Mathematics and Biology, and in 2021 will commence an Honours year, researching how climate-related stress impacts freshwater fish behaviour.

From a young age, Jada has cherished the natural world. Her interest has led her to snake spotting and frog catching in the Northern Territory, and diving at the remote One Tree Island research station on the Great Barrier Reef with some of the world’s leading marine biologists. A personal connection to the land, a love for writing and her science education all result in her writing about current scientific discoveries, opinion pieces, and news. Her mission is to bridge the gap between academics and the general population and engage young people in science.
